COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Beer and board games is the perfect combination to some. Especially when it comes to raising money for a good cause.
Members of The Beers and Board Games Club of Columbus hosted a 24-hour gaming marathon in Columbus to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital Saturday and Sunday.
Games like Stratego, Rummikub and Dungeons and Dragons were on hand for participants to play at the Zauber Brewing Company and Das KaffeeHaus.
There was plenty of both beer and coffee to keep everyone going.
Cheryl Harrison stayed up the full 24 hours and said there were some interesting games.
“There was a game yesterday that they played for seven and a half hours called Diplomacy where you’re ya know, really negotiating with the leaders of other countries. Think (the game of ) “Risk” on steroids. So you’re trying to work together to take over the world,” explained Harrison.
So far event has raised more than $5,000.
