17-year-old girl struck and killed in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (WCMH) – A teenage girl was struck by a car and killed Sunday night at a Mount Vernon intersection.

According to the Mount Gilead post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7:20 p.m. Sunday evening at the intersection of Mansfield Avenue and Belmont Avenue.

According to investigators, Chelsea R. Alaimo, 17, was crossing the street when she was struck by a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Curtis W. Hill, 32, of Mount Vernon.

The Trailblazer was impounded by troopers, but no charges have been filed.

Multiple social media reports identify Alaimo as a senior at Mount Vernon High School.
