COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)– Two checkpoints will be held by the Columbus Division of Police Friday night into Saturday morning.
According to Columbus police, the first checkpoint will be held at S. High Street at Southgate Drive between the hours of 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. This location was selected because nearly 16 percent of the traffic crashes reported at that intersection during a 5-year period involved an impaired driver. Further, there are three intersections along S. High St. that have impaired driving crash rates between 9 and 11 percent.
The second checkpoint will be held at E. Livingston Avenue and Barnett Road in east Columbus between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday morning . This location was selected because more than six percent of the traffic crashes reported at that intersection involved an impaired driver. There are three intersections along E. Livingston Ave. with impaired driving crash rates between 5 and 15 percent.
