Relief coming soon for U.S. 23 drivers

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) — Weather permitting, the morning commute along U.S. 23 should be a little smoother Monday.

Newly-paved lanes and more turning lanes should offer some relief for north side drivers Monday morning.

If all goes as planned, officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation said drivers will be travelling on two new lanes between Northwoods Boulevard and Campus View Boulevard by rush hour.

On East Campus View Boulevard, there will be four lanes open: three designated left turn lanes and one lane for through traffic or right turns. The left turn lane from U.S. 23 south to Flint Road will also reopen.

Regular drivers along the route, like John Moore, are ready for the orange barrels to disappear.

“It’s moving along slowly but surely,” Moore said. “Hopefully when it’s done again it makes everything a lot easier getting through this area.”

Amy Rodallega said she was very happy to hear the roadway will open up.

“Anything getting it closer to done is an accomplishment,” she added.

Southbound traffic on U.S. 23 will be switched on to new pavement by 5 a.m. Monday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
