McKnight and Nelson are each charged with one count of murder, and an unspecified felony. Howell is charged with complicity to murder. All three are in the custody of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Police believe McKnight and Nelson were engaged in an exchange of gunfire with an unknown person when Smith was hit and killed in the 4600 block of Eastway Court. Howell is suspected of removing McKnight and Howell from the scene, and providing them with transportation since the shooting.
