Pickup truck crashes into Hudson Street pawn shop

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A Columbus man says he was choking on a cough drop when he crashed into a North Linden pawn shop.

The crash happened shortly after noon Wednesday at Lev’s Pawn Shop on the 700 block of East Hudson Street.

2015-11-18_12.48.38According to police, the driver said he choked on a cough drop, passed out, and then woke up after the airbags deployed.

The driver told police he thinks the impact of the crash knocked the cough drop free, performing a sort of Heimlich maneuver with the steering wheel.

Several windows and a door of the pawn shop were damaged. No injuries were reported.

Hudson Street was closed for a short time and has since reopened.
