CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WCMH) — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office confirms a 14-year-old girl has been located after she allegedly walked out of Huntington Middle School Thursday morning.
Keith Stevenson, superintendent at Huntington Local Schools, said a student saw the girl walk out the back door of the building at 9 a.m. Her parents and deputies from the sheriff’s office filed a report, and the principal drove around to look for her.
“I spoke with the principal and asked if she was aware of any circumstances that had happened here at the school that would cause the student to be upset over anything, and she indicated there was nothing that they were aware of,” Stevenson said.
The girl was found around 7 p.m. and taken to the sheriff’s office.
“We’re just happy that she’s been found safe,” Stevenson said, adding there will likely be no punishment for the girl.
