Police release names of officers involved in Monday’s officer-involved shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Three Columbus Division of Police officers were involved in a shooting Monday evening in the Hilltop where a man allegedly killed three people and critically injured one.

The officers involved are Eric Clouse, a 12-year member of CPD; Lincoln Green, a 4-year member; and Jack Snyder, a 3-year member.

Police were called out to the scene at a South Terrace Avenue home at 5:06 p.m. Monday after reports of a shooting in the area. Officials found the suspect, 50-year-old Barry Kirk, several houses away from the scene of the shooting and was shot by police multiple times. A handgun was recovered near Kirk.

Kirk was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead after 8 p.m.

Officers patrolling the Hilltop heard gunshots and began to track Kirk down nearly simultaneously to the 911 call, police say.

The victims have been identified as:

  • John E. Anderson II, 31
  • Christina M. Anderson, 30
  • Landon E. Anderson, 7

The 12-year-old surviving victim is expected to recover from her injuries. She has not been identified.

Police say the officers involved and the two police communication technicians who took the 911 calls are receiving counseling.
