JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP)– Authorities in New Jersey say a motorist who repeatedly told police she was “looking for New Jersey” has been charged with drunken driving.
Port Authority police say officers approached 31-year-old Karol Andino around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after the North Bergen woman stopped her car near the Holland Tunnel entrance in Jersey City and got out of her vehicle.
When she told them she was “looking for New Jersey,” the officers told her that’s where she was. But Andino continued to say she was “looking for New Jersey,” and she was charged a short time later.
Authorities say Andino’s blood alcohol level was .25 percent. The state’s legal limit is .08 percent.
A phone number in Andino’s name rang unanswered Monday afternoon. It’s not known if she has retained a lawyer who could comment on her behalf.
