List of top rising travel destinations in the US and World released by TripAdvisor

(WCMH)–TripAdvisor has released its 2016 list of the top travel destinations on the rise in the US and the world and two in the US are within a short drive of Ohio.

According to TripAdvisor, the number one destination on the rise in the US for travelers in the upcoming year is Gatlinburg Tennessee; with its views of the Great Smoky Mountains, dining options and entertainment, it topped the list of upcoming destinations for the year.

Orange Beach, Alabama, and Destin, Florida come in at number two and three, followed by South Lake Tahoe, California at number four and Jackson, Wyoming coming in at five.

Pittsburgh comes in at number eight on the list, and is only about a three hour drive from Columbus. The Steel City made the list, according to TripAdvisor, because of its colorful history and charm.

Tulum, Mexico was listed as the number one world destination for travelers in the 2016 year. However, Gatlinburg also made the world destination list at number four.
