Man suspected of stealing $81K worth of gemstones from Cleveland Museum of Natural History

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKYC)–Police have released a photo of a man suspected of stealing items from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

A small number of items from the museum’s mineral collection went missing on Thursday, Dec. 3, according to WKYC. The items are worth more than $81,000.

Museum staff members are currently working together with the Cleveland Police Department and the University Circle Police Department on an investigation into the stolen gems.

Cleveland Police posted a video of the suspect to YouTube.

Police say the suspect may drive a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler with a lighter-colored top and spare tire mounted on the rear.
