Police: Bicyclist dead after Newark crash

NEWARK, Ohio (WCMH) — Police confirm a bicyclist has died after being struck by a vehicle on the city’s north side.

Newark police and medics responded to a serious crash on North 21st Street at about 8:40 a.m. today. One person was pronounced dead at the scene

Police said a white Ford was heading northbound on 21st Street when the cyclist, who was riding southbound, turned left in front of the car and was struck by the vehicle.

According to police the driver of the car will not be cited.

North 21st Street from Deo Drive to Log Pond Drive is closed indefinitely in both directions as the crash remains under investigation.
