COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus is becoming a popular backdrop for famous actors and Hollywood films, and now, there’s a new film in town starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Columbus residents are used to Schwarzenegger visiting the city in March during the Annual Arnold Classic Sports Festival, but now the actor and former governor’s movie started pre-production in the South-Side of Columbus.
Marion Village resident J.T. Bock said, “It’s always big for Columbus, always big to have stuff coming into the city for jobs and stuff like that.”
“I think it’s fantastic for the economy,” said another German Village local.
And excitement for the film seemed to reside among several Columbus residents and employees who live and work near the location where the movie started production today.
Ryan O’Connell said, “I think it’s awesome, I think Ohio is becoming a big place for movies, so instead of going to Cleveland or Cincinnati, it’s great it’s here in Columbus.”
For any possible street closures or traffic changes the film might bring, local employees Amber Baseler and Jennifer Wood say they’re confident the movie won’t disrupt their normal routine.
“Hopefully the city planners have worked it out, and I’m sure they’re taking precautions to make sure it won’t disrupt us too much, but it’s kind of exciting to have the disruption,” said Baseler.
Residents feel excited Schwarzenegger’s Hollywood film chose Columbus, and they look forward to watching the movie’s scene locations filmed around the city.
“I think it’s fantastic the film’s here…better than going to Cleveland or Cincinnati, why not here,” said Jeff Sauer
