Baseball bat used as weapon during Hilliard area robbery

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police say a man pulled a baseball bat from his pants before robbing a gas station near Hilliard Sunday morning.

PROC_Img (3)It happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Shell True North at 3975 Ridge Mill Drive.

According to Columbus police, the suspect placed a mask over his face, pulled an aluminum bat from his pants and approached the clerk. Investigators say he struck the register several times with the bat and demanded money.

The man left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police described the suspect as a white male in his late teens, possibly of Hispanic descent. He was stood between 5’10” and 5’11” and weighed between 150 and 160 pounds. He had black hair and was wearing a royal blue hooded sweatshirt with dark gray sweatpants.

He was seen leaving in a white 2008 or 2009 Ford Mustang.
