COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s players and coaches say they are 100% committed to the Fiesta Bowl. No worries about the NFL draft or not being included in the college football playoff. They say playing Notre Dame, as talented as they are, consumes all their mental energy.
The Buckeyes spoke to reporters Thursday for the first time since the bowl pairing was announced. And Urban Meyer says the Buckeyes may have some depth concerns at defensive tackle. Senior all-American Adolphus Washington has been suspended for the Fiesta Bowl following his arrest last week. Meyer says fellow senior defensive tackle Tommy Schutt injured his foot this week and his status for the game is uncertain. That means the Bucks would have to rely on senior Joel Hale, sophomore Michael Hill and possibly Joey Bosa moving inside to tackle to make up for those losses.
The Buckeyes will travel to Phoenix Dec. 27 and start on-site practices the next day. They’ll practice until Monday and then leave for Christmas break.
