Columbus Police officer cleared in January shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–The Columbus Division of Police said Officer Keith Kise has been cleared in a January shooting where a suspect was killed in a shootout with law enforcement.

According to a press release, Kise was one of the officers who tried to apprehend Jermonte Fletcher, who was wanted on a warrant. Police say Fletcher fired on officers and they returned fire. Two troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol were also involved.

Police said Kise’s actions were found to be within the CPD Use of Firearms policy.
