Teenage hockey player dies suddenly in his sleep

WESTERVILLE (WCMH) — A Westerville family is in mourning after their teenage son died in his sleep Saturday night.

Lisa and Jim Knox are waiting to learn what caused the death of their son Thomas, a 14-year-old freshman at St. Charles Preparatory School in Bexley.

Thomas played for the high school’s junior varsity hockey team and had just played in a game Saturday evening. The Knox family says there is no indication at this point that playing in the game had anything to do with their son’s premature death.

An endowment fund in honor of Thomas is being set up to help pay for students who wish to attend St. Charles but do not have the financial means to do so.
