Ohio AG DeWine investigating movie theater chains for antitrust violations

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)– Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that his office is investigating AMC, Cinemark and Regal, the three largest movie theater chains in the country, for possible anti-competitive conduct.

According to a release from DeWine, the investigation, into the three companies, centers on whether they engaged in unfair conduct that excluded competitors from entering the market.

According to DeWine, AMC, Cinemark, and Regal previously have disclosed in public filings that they received civil investigative demands from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

If an antitrust investigation uncovers violations of state or federal laws, the Ohio Attorney General can seek an injunction or other monetary remedies.
