Pastry chef creates gingerbread church to honor Mother Emanuel

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The pastry chef at a South Carolina school created a gingerbread replica of Mother Emanuel as a tribute to the victims and survivors of the Charleston Church Shooting.

Porter Gaud’s pastry chef, Michelle Gurbel of Flik Independent Dining Services, will deliver her beautiful work to the Emanuel AME Church on Wednesday, December 16 during the church’s bible study.

The gingerbread house has been entered in the 2015 National Flik Gingerbread Contest. The national competition will announce the winner in January.

Porter Gaud chef, Danny Avenel, posted pictures of the gingerbread house on facebook and they have been shared over 400 times.
