Police arrest 13-year-old who allegedly stole gun from deputy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus police say a 13-year-old has been arrested after allegedly stealing a gun from a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Police say the deputy had her gun stolen around 8:58 Thursday from her personal vehicle, south of Chatterton Road in east Columbus.

She and CPD officers arrested the juvenile after a chase. The gun and all other stolen items were recovered and returned to the deputy. The juvenile was charged with the following felonies: grand theft firearm, CCW (carrying concealed weapon) and weapons under disability. The 13-year-old also had a warrant for a probation violation, a felony.
