LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH)– Police are searching for the person who shot out at least 55 vehicle windows in Lancaster.

The shootings happened late Tuesday night or early this morning. Many of the vehicle owners found out about the damage when Lancaster police officers, on routine patrols, noticed the damage and knocked on their doors. Others found the side and back vehicle windows shattered when they attempted to leave for work or school.

Detective Steve Fealty with the Lancaster Police Department said they are looking at surveillance video to see if they can find a vehicle or shooter description. He said they suspect the shooter was using a pellet gun to break the windows.

Authorities are also working with New Lexington police, because they had a similar recent shooting spree. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
