Police shoot suspect during chase in Pickaway County

PICKAWAY CO., Ohio (WCMH)–The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office says a man was injured Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting during a car chase.

Members of the Harrison Township Fire Department saw a man milling around the station parking lot, according to a press release. The firefighters approached him, and said he was “behaving suspiciously.” He got in his car and drove off, stopping a a gravel lot near the station. Firefighters called police, who arrived after the suspect parked in the gravel lot. The officer turned on his lights and tried to stop the man.

The man allegedly begin driving erratically in circles, and sped towards the Ashville PD officers. Shots were fired and a chase began. The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office arrived to help with the chase.

The man continued southbound on Ohio 188 toward Circleville, and Circleville police also joined the pursuit. The man crashed on Ohio 188 around Pontius Road. He had received a single gunshot wound from an officer, and was transported to the hospital.

The case remains under investigation.
