Extra patrols planned on U.S. 62 in Plain Twp.

PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) — Citing five fatal crashes in nearly two years The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is planning extra patrols along a section of U.S. 62.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, five fatal crashes resulting in six deaths have happened along U.S. 62 between Walnut Street and Tippet Road in the last 22 months.

Now, Sheriff Zach Scott is announcing Operation Plain Safety, to provide increased law enforcement visibility along U.S. 62.

Sheriff Scott said, “We are urging and reminding drivers to be mindful of their location. Near the Franklin County line, Route 62 has a series of curves and drivers must be aware and cautious when traveling this stretch of roadway.”

Between December 21 and January 1, the Sheriff’s office is planning on extra patrols in the area. They will focus on strict enforcement of traffic laws with an emphasis on distracted, reckless and impaired driving.
