Report: Detroit boxer dies after being hurt in professional debut in Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Several professional boxing websites are reporting that Detroit boxer Hamzah Ajahmi has died after suffering injuries during his first pro bout in Youngstown on Saturday.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office confirmed Ajahmi’s death Wednesday morning.

Ajahmi passed away at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center on Tuesday. He had undergone emergency surgery there.

Ajahmi was in the ring with Anthony Taylor of Warren when he suddenly fell to his knees. He was taken by stretcher to the hospital.
