Cory Neal Stucky (Steele County)

BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCMH)– A Minnesota man has been charged with manslaughter and child endangerment after he was accused of drinking about 24 beers and falling asleep on his 8-week-old son, causing the child to suffocate.

According to the KARE-TV, 30-year-old Cory Neal Stucky initially told police he was a heavy sleeper and hadn’t been drinking.

The child’s mother, Amy J. Solland told police that Stucky had started drinking at 11 a.m. and had drunk at least 24 beers until he left with friends to go to a bar.

According to the criminal complaint, the next morning Solland found the child not breathing, face down underneath Stucky on the couch.

Solland told the Star Tribune she hopes his prosecution will help Stucky to stop drinking.

The autopsy of the child revealed findings consistent with asphyxia. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
