Downtown streets reopen after suspicious package report

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Several roads around the Ohio Statehouse were closed Tuesday morning after a suspicious package was found nearby.

According to Columbus police, the package was found in the bushes near the Statehouse shortly after 10 a.m.

The Columbus bomb squad determined that the package was a piece of luggage filled with clothing.

High Street was closed between Gay Street and State Street. West Broad St was also closed at Front Street. As of noon, the intersections have reopened.
