Phoenix, AZ (KPNX) Phoenix police are investigating after a woman’s body was found on the sofa in a Phoenix apartment Sunday, reportedly two to three days after she was shot to death.
The apartment’s occupant, 39-year-old Anitra Lashone Braxton, is suspected in the shooting, and police say she told them the woman was shot in the eye for not believing in her God.
Phoenix Police believe the incident occurred on Dec. 24. The victim remains unidentified, but is described as a black woman estimated between the ages of 30 to 40 who is possibly pregnant.
“We believe she was killed in that apartment and we believe that she was probably in that apartment for 48 hours or more,” said Sergeant Trent Crump.
Officers are investigating the situation as a homicide and say Braxton told them the body on the sofa, covered with a towel, was a shrine from God, and that the body was her own body.
