COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Ohio State football team returned home as champions Saturday, and a group of several Buckeyes fans waited outside the airport to welcome their return.
“It’s cold, but we do what we do,” said Donita Ward-Beam, an OSU fan.
“Let’s hope we get into the national championship next year,” said Robert Fischer, another Buckeye fan.
The team landed at Rickenbacker Internation Airport at about 4 p.m. Saturday as temperatures neared freezing. Head coach Urban Meyer greeted the fans with a high five through the fence separating the team and the fans, thanking them for their support.
The Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame 44-28 in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona on New Year’s Day.
