COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee has decided to head to NFL instead of returning to Ohio State.
Lee made the announcement via Twitter, saying he made the decision after “thorough research and careful consideration”.
Lee wrote: “I feel it is in my best interest to take this next step in achieving my dream. These have been some of the greatest years of my life here at Ohio State and I am blessed and honored to be a Buckeye for the rest of my life.”
Lee has been projected as a first-round pick by many draft experts. He had 66 tackles and 4.5 sacks this season. He also had an interception return for a touchdown and two forced fumbles.
Lee graduated from New Albany High School and is the son of NBC4 weekend anchor Candice Lee.
He becomes the fourth Buckeye to announce intentions to leave for the NFL this year, joining Ezekiel Elliott, Joey Bosa and Cardale Jones.
