Fairfield County deputy resigns amid shoplifting allegations

Angela Curry

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WCMH) – The Fairfield County Sheriff says one of his deputies has resigned over allegations she shoplifted from the Walmart Supercenter in Reynoldsburg.

Deputy Angela Curry was working special duty at the store over the Christmas holiday when the shoplifting allegedly happened. Sheriff Dave Phalen said the Walmart store contacted his department with surveillance video of at least two incidents, although he did not know what items were allegedly stolen.

Phalen says Curry resigned when confronted with the allegations and the video.

He says of the incident, “It’s unfortunate. We try to operate with a high level of excellence and integrity and this tarnishes our entire agency.”

Curry has been with the department since 2004. The investigation has been turned over to Reynoldburg Police. Curry has not yet been charged
