Firefighters battling propane tank fire south of downtown

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Crews are battling a propane tank fire near the Scioto Audubon Metro Park into the early hours of Monday morning.

Columbus firefighters responded to a structure fire at 423 Front Street at about 11:10 p.m. Sunday. First responders immediately called for backup as they began working to contain the blaze.

Police said there were several roadways and ramps closed as a result of the fire:

  • I-70 and I-71 between State Route 315 and the split
  • I-70 eastbound at Front Street
  • I-70 westbound from the split
  • I-71 northbound to I-70 eastbound
  • I-71 southbound to I-70 westbound
  • Mound Street to I-70
  • 3rd Street to I-70

The incident remains under investigation.
