Police say man shot dead in North Linden was trying to rob a home down the street

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police say a man who died on Howey Road early Monday morning may have been trying to rob a home up the street.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 2:13 a.m., officers responded to the report of shots fired in the area of 2993 Howey Road.

When police arrived on scene they found 21-year-old Brandon Lee Pollard suffering from a gunshot wound. Pollard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say he and Juwaun Markell Pitts were attempting to force entry into a home at 3013 Howey Road. Several gunshots were exchanged between the men and a resident when Pollard was hit and killed.

They say Pitts allegedly contributed to Pollard’s death during the commission of an aggravated felony, and will be charged with murder. He is not in police custody.

Police said that Pollard may have been shot up the street where he may have been involved in a fight.
