Thanksgiving Day homicide suspect arrested

Da’Juan Mankins

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–Franklin County deputies have arrested the suspect accused of fatally shooting a man in an alley on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, at about 5 p.m., November 26, deputies responded to the report of a shooting next to 29 Volney Avenue in Franklin Township.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found 47-year-old Glen Allen Stepp suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Stepp was taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Deputies would later name Da’Juan Mankins as a suspect in Stepp’s death, and Friday, with the help of the Columbus Police Department SWAT officers, arrested Mankins at a residence on South Richardson Avenue.

According to detectives, robbery may have been the motive for the fatal shooting.

Mankins was arrested without incident and is in jail, a murder charge.
