Chillicothe police investigating allegation of sexual assault by an off-duty officer

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WCMH) — Chillicothe police said they are investigating a claim than an off-duty officer sexually assaulted a woman.

Public information officer Bud Lytle said they are not releasing the names of the officer or the victim at this time as the incident remains under investigation. He said the Bureau of Criminal Investigation will handle the criminal investigation; another outside agency will internally investigate the police department.

Police were alerted of the allegations Sunday morning by a woman who said she had been sexually assaulted by an off-duty Chillicothe police officer.
