CINCINNATI (WCMH) — Pete Rose will be inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in June, the team said Tuesday morning.

The Cincinnati Reds are planning a 11 a.m. press conference to formally make the announcement.

“Inducting Pete into the Reds Hall of Fame will be a defining moment in the 147-year history of this storied franchise,” said Reds President and CEO Bob Castellini. “He is one of the greatest players to ever wear a Reds uniform and it will be an unforgettable experience watching him being honored as such.”

Rose is the only person inducted into the class of 2016.

While Rose will make it into the Reds Hall of Fame, it remains unlikely that he will make it into the Baseball Hall of Fame anytime soon. Rose’s latest appeal of his lifetime baseball ban was denied by commissioner Rob Manfred in December.
