DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH)– The trial of former Olentangy Local Schools teacher Matthew Rausenberg is underway in Delaware County Common Pleas Court.
Rausenberg, 40, is accused of having sexual contact with a number of young female students while working as a second and third grade teacher at Arrowhead Elementary School.
Rausenberg faces multiple counts of gross sexual imposition, kidnapping, an pandering sexually oriented material.
Delaware County prosecutor Carol O’Brien said attempts to resolve the case before going to trial were unsuccessful. As many as nine alleged victims could testify.
The mother of one of Rausenberg’s former students told NBC4 she is attending the trial to give herself some closure. “I needed to go in and see him and have him see me,” she said. “I saw him as a good person and you find out what a horrible thing you’ve done to all these kids, especially my daughter, and that makes me sad.”
O’Brien says if convicted on all counts, Rausenberg could face life in prison.
