Worthington police officer recovering after being hit by vehicle on S.R. 315

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)– Police say a Worthington officer was struck by a vehicle on state Route 315 near Henderson Road.

Worthington Police say officer Kirk Allton had pulled over a southbound vehicle. The cars were stopped just north of the Henderson Road exit.

allton, kirk (2)Allton, 49, was talking with the driver through the passenger side window when a chain reaction accident occurred. A third vehicle traveling in the middle lane slowed and was rear-ended by a fourth car and pushed into the car stopped for the violation. Allton was hit when the stopped car was pushed off the side of the road.

Allton was transported to OSU Wexner Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition. He is a 22-year veteran of the Worthington Division of Police.

The other drivers involved refused treatment at the scene.

Columbus Police are investigating the crash.
