CPD: 11-year-old girl’s smart thinking helps officers arrest 2 burglary suspects

Police said an 11-year-old's help led to the arrest of the two burglary suspects.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–When she heard two men near her house, the girl called 911 and gave police excellent descriptions of the suspects.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, an 11-year-old girl was staying at her grandmother’s house on E. 2nd Avenue, Tuesday when she saw two men outside the home.

The girl felt as if something wasn’t right about the men, so she grabbed her phone and locked herself in a room and called 911.

Police said the girl gave a detailed description of the men and stayed on the phone while the men entered the house. She later saw the men leave the home with electronics, according officers.

Police arrived on scene within two minutes and arrested 31-year-old Jimmy Ray Triplett and 26-year-old Christopher Watson. According to police, both men were caught with the stolen electronics, and have been charged with burglary and theft.

Police also pointed out that the 11-year-old girl’s grandmother is involved in the neighborhood block watch.
