ATHENS Co., Ohio (WCMH)–The snowfall is coming and residents, particularly those in southern Ohio, are preparing for the worst.
Forecasters are predicting between six and eight inches of snow in Athens County.
“I’m just here to get some groceries until Sunday,” said Bruce Russell, a customer at Seaman’s Supermarket. “Hopefully everything will be cleaned up and cleared up by then.”
At C & E True Value Hardware, customers used their spare time to stock up on shovels, rock salt and heaters.
Owner Jarrett Jones said sales were up about 30 percent ahead of the storm.
“I think people get anxious and a little nervous around here, so they try to stock up and be prepared,” he said.
Road crews are on standby ahead of the storm.
According to an Ohio Department of Transportation spokesman, crews will work 16-hour shifts until all State Routes, U.S. Routes and interstates are clear.
