Pickerington man charged with attempting to murder coworker

Lawrence Byrd

LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH)–The Fairfield County Sheriff’s office announced it arrested a man for allegedly trying to kill a co-worker at his home on Wagram Road in Pickerington.

Deputies arrested Lawrence Regel Byrd, 55, on Jan. 29. Detectives charged Byrd in connection with an incident that took place earlier in the week at the location on Wagram Road.

Sheriff Dave Phalen said detectives began investigating Byrd after they got reports he stabbed and assaulted 37-year-old  Javana Anntanett Randall-Kacar of Columbus Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Detectives believe Byrd became involved in a physical altercation with Randall-Kacar, a co-worker, which culminated into the victim being cut multiple times. The two continued to struggle before another resident in the home intervened and stopped the assault. Randall-Kacar was eventually transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

Byrd was charged with attempted murder (F1), punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
