CATAWISSA, PA (WCMH)—It started out as a school project that ended with an 8-year-old girl meeting face-to-face with her police departments chief to say thank you for all that they do.
According to WNEP Sabrina Campbell’s class was told by their librarian to write a letter to their hero. Sabrina, 8, picked her local police officers in Catawissa Pennsylvania.
Police chief Josh Laidacker said the letter floored him when he read it.
“Very humbling to read this, especially from a child. It means so much to us to see something like this. I think this letter is not just for our police department but it’s for every police department out there,” Laidacker told WNEP.
In her letter, Sabrina wrote that it seemed the right thing to do, because most people don’t thank police officers.
“Normally they don’t get a thank you note every day from people they do stuff for,” said Sabrina.
When Laidacker met with Sabrina, he told her she plans to frame the letter, and gave her two patches officers wear on their uniforms.
