Police help family escape west Columbus fire

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police officers help save a family from a burning home in west Columbus early Tuesday morning.

Columbus police officers were making a traffic stop along Wheatland Avenue when they spotted a house on fire. Immediately, the officers went to assist.

Four children and two adults were home at the time and were able to get out safely.

The family is now waiting on assistance from the Red Cross at a neighbor’s house.

As for the traffic stop, the driver didn’t get away scot-free. Police turned that traffic stop into a narcotics bust.
