COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A woman who is suspected in a Beckley, West Virginia shooting was arrested in Columbus Thursday night.
Beckley Police announced that Charmaine Kent was taken into custody Thursday.
Kent and Christopher Jones are suspects in the murder of 21-year-old Chantaye Shivers on January 29. Police called the shooting a random act of violence.
Jones is described as a black male, 6 feet tall and about 160 pounds. Police still believe Jones may be in the Columbus area.
Police said both Jones and Kent will be charged with first-degree murder, two counts of malicious wounding, 10 counts of wanton endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Both suspects have criminal histories in Central Ohio. NBC4 checked court records in Franklin County and found each has faced numerous gun-related charges.
Among the most recent charges, Kent was charged in 2014 with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.
In 2015, she was charged with felonious assault, after witnesses told police she started shooting into a house.
Kent remains in the Franklin County Jail awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
