Thousands of sharks spotted off Florida coast

, FL (WCMH)– Tens of thousands were caught on video just off the Palm Beach coastline.

According to WPEC, Florida Atlantic University Biological Sciences Professor Dr. Stephen Kajiura captured the video at about 500 feet above the Atlantic Ocean Friday morning.

“It’s so cool,” he told WPEC. “There are literally tens of thousands of sharks a stone’s throw away from our shoreline. You could throw a pebble and literally strike a shark. They are that close.”

Kajiura shot the video as part of a weekly survey on the migration of black tip sharks.

“From Palm Beach to Singer Island, it was loaded–literally tens of thousands of sharks,” he said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
