REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WCMH)– Police are searching for a suspect who hid in the Sam’s Club in Reynoldsburg until it closed and allegedly stole more than $100,000 in jewelry.
According to investigators, at about 5pm, January 31, a man entered the Sam’s Club at 2675 Taylor Road in Reynoldsburg, and before the store closed, he hid in a rack behind some boxes.
At about 8:30pm the suspect left his hiding place and went to the jewelry area.
Investigators said the man then broke the glass of five display cases and stole $156,532 worth of jewelry.
The suspect then put the jewelry in a printer box and left the store through an emergency exit door near the main entrance.
He was last seen on surveillance video walking towards an apartment complex across Taylor Road.
According to investigators, the same suspect was seen on video at the same Sam’s Club, January 24, hiding in the same rack as January 31. He was seen on video moving throughout the store, but it was unclear if anything was taken.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with short brown hair and a medium build. On one occasion he was seen wearing a gray hooded jacket with dark pants and on another he was wearing a black down jacket, a light baseball cap, dark pants and shoes. He’s believed to be left-handed and may wear prescription glasses.
