UNIONTOWN, PA (WCMH)– Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death of a 23-month-old child after they said she was left in a car seat for 13 hours.
According to WPXI, investigators said the girl was put in a car seat at about 9pm Tuesday, and no one checked on her again until 10:30am Wednesday.
The mother told police when she checked on the girl, she noticed something was wrong and rushed her to the hospital. The girl would later be pronounced dead.
Troopers executed a search warrant on the family’s home and told WPXI the conditions were deplorable and there was no running water.
According to investigators, the child’s father was home at the time but never checked on her.
The girl’s mother told police she checked on the girl after running errands, but the toddler had some sort of “event” that led to her being rushed to the hospital.
Prosecutors are waiting on the results of the autopsy, but no charges have been filed at this time.
