UPDATE – Sheriff: Alleged Guernsey County sexual assault victim says she made up story

GUERNSEY CO., Ohio (WCMH)–The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the rape and abduction of an 27-year-old woman from the Dallas Pike, WV area Sunday afternoon.

The female victim told deputies she believes she was drugged but does recall speaking with a “homeless male” at a truck stop on Dallas Pike and providing him money.

Dallas Pike runs close to I-70 and U.S. 40.

The woman was later found in a rural area of Guernsey County where she had been savagely beaten and sexually assaulted, the sheriff’s office said.

Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden said the woman was “just about deceased” when they found her.

“We want to get the word out that there’s a person out there that’s doing this to females and we don’t want it to happen again,” he said.

“It’s extremely important we get this guy off the road. We don’t want to see this happen to another person at all, so the quicker we get him, the quicker we can get him behind bars.”

The sketch was developed with the assistance of the victim.

Anyone with information concerning this case or the identity of the person depicted in the sketch is asked to contact the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office at 740-439-4455.
