OSU police report campus assault Tuesday evening

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–The Ohio State University Department of Public Safety says a female student was assaulted Tuesday between 11:15 and 11:30 p.m. by an unknown male.

The student was walking back to her residence facility, according to a campus alert, and was confronted near Woodruff Avenue between Schoenbaum Hall, Gerlach Hall and Norton House.

The suspect grabbed the female student by the arm and pushed her against a wall before grabbing her by the throat. He also made several verbal advances, the Department of Public Safety said. The female student fought back, hitting and kicking the suspect prior to running away to safety.

The Department of Public Safety said the suspect is believed to be a white male, with medium build and brown hair, between 5′ 6″ and 5′ 8″ tall. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt, possibly black in color and his voice was described as slightly raspy and sort of deep.

Anyone with information concerning this crime should contact either the University Police, 614-292-2121 or Columbus Police, 614-645-4545. You may also report information anonymously to the Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS or the University Crime Stoppers Tips line at 614-247-TIPS.
