Investigators: Purse snatcher at large in north Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A purse snatcher had a quick turnaround to use stolen credit cards in an open investigation theft on the city’s north side.

Investigators said a woman who was shopping on Jan. 12 reported her purse stolen sometime after 8 pm. She immediately reported the theft to her credit card companies, but it was too late. One of the cards had already been used at the Target store at 4199 Morse Crossing.

Neither the victim’s purse nor its contents have been recovered, so investigators are turning to the public to help identify the man caught on camera using the stolen cards on a surveillance camera.

Investigators described the suspect as a white man with short brown hair and a light mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie underneath a black hoodie, printed shirt and jeans.

COW 3-6-16 2A second suspect was not identified, but investigators said he or she was a driver of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle is described as a late-model dark minivan with luggage racks on the top.
