COLUMBUS (WCMH)–“American Ninja Warrior” is a huge hit and one central Ohio woman is making herself a household name on the show.
Viewers of the NBC show are amazed at how strong the contestants are, and the crazy obstacles they go through.
The last three seasons, a local woman, Michelle Warnky, has been a contestant on that show.
Whether it’s climbing ropes or the salmon ladder Warnky is constantly challenging herself, and while she’s used to every obstacle you can think of, she admits, being on TV makes things a little different.
“TV definitely adds a new factor. There are so many cameras, and lights, and the crowd is so loud. It’s a great time.”
Another challenge for Warnky is the cold weather when taping the show.
“It’s always like 30 degrees. Your hands are freezing and you have to grip things, and a lot of times you have to wait so you have to stand there with what you’re going to wear; like a tank top. You’re like ‘I’m freezing!’”
But she is always prepared, and she has made it to the finals each time she’s been on the show.
“All three times as a wild card. I want to earn it,” Warnky said.
She is really looking forward to next season especially because of who will be with her this time. “My dad and I are both trying out, so I think it would be great if we both were able to finish the course.”
If you’re interested in trying the ninja lifestyle there will be a competition here in central Ohio April 9. For more information, go to www.mlabohio.com
